A computer network is an interconnection of a group of computers. The computer network consists of communications media, devices and special software. The computers on the networks can share data, information, work processes and allow people to collaborate on projects. Companies can use network to share hardware, programs, and database (for example one computer printer in a company can be used by all employees, work from home). Network allows also to share documents and opinion between even geographically separate workgroups.

The different between the Internet and the Intranet is that the information in the Internet is available for everyone. Work from home. But some companies and organization create a special protected part of the Internet calls the Intranet. The Intranets is a network which can use only specific group of people, for example employees who can use it to exchange information and work together on projects. To have a access to the Intranet, usually user have to know his a user ID and password.
